Collecting on Asia started in earnest from 1987 onwards. From 2011 onwards the South East Asia Region desk was created. The Desk collects materials from Burma, China, the Indonesia/Dutch East Indies, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand.
The chief collectors of the South East Asia Desk are Emile Schwidder (esc@iisg.nl) and Eef Vermeij (eve@iisg.nl). Eef Vermeij is also the Regional Representative in Bangkok.
