The famous prophet Nostradamus was born on 14 December 1503 in the Provence. Nostradamus became a doctor and initially wrote about medicine and domestic remedies. His 'Prophesies', in the form of quatrains, were published from 1555 onwards. His mysterious sentences leave room for all kind of interpretation. Many explanations come about with hindsight, after the prophesied  events have actually occurred. However, Nostradamus' prediction of his own dying-day, 2 July 1566, was quite to the point.
