Karin Hofmeester
Profile
Studied Modern History at the University of Amsterdam, where she aquired her PhD in 1999. Started working at the IISH in 1987: subsequently as research assistant, junior research fellow, PR manager, organizer of the European Social Science History Conference in 2000 and project leader and director Digital Monument Jewish Community of the Netherlands. Present position: senior researcher, project manager Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations in the period 1500-2000. Currently she is working on a project called Luxury and Labour on Diamonds as Global Commodity.
Main research interests: modern Jewish (social) history, especially the history of Jewish emancipation; global labour history; history of global commodities. Is visiting professor of Jewish Culture at Antwerpen University.
