Zulu King Cetshwayo kaMpande conquered the British invaders of his country in the Battle of Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879. The Zulus killed 1300 British troops, Zulu casualties were almost as heavy.  In Zulu, a motion picture on the war (1964), Mangosuthu Buthelezi played the role of his great-grandfather Cetshwayo. Buthelezi founded the South Africa Freedom Party Inkatha in 1975 and was Chief Minister of the erstwhile KwaZulu Government from 1976  until 1994. In 1994 he became minister of Home Affairs under Nelson Mandela.
