Adopt History - How does it work?

There are several ways to adopt: in your own name or on behalf of a loved one, such as a friend or a family member. Adoption on behalf of a group, organization or company is possible as well. Alternatively, if you wish, you can adopt in someone's memory. You will find all options on our adoption form.

Different financial levels of adoption are of course possible. The activities for which we request your support are both labour-intensive and costly. Up to € 150, you share in the costs. Your contribution will be added to our adoption fund. The resources of this fund are earmarked for preservation, access, and digitization of our collections. The books and collections on our list reflect what is needed and may inspire you to support us.
If your contribution exceeds € 150, you have the option to preserve a book or collection of your own choice. Have a look at the options.

In the list of works, archives, and collections, simply select a work or collection that you would like to adopt, and follow the instructions.

If you show your involvement with the IISH, the Institute would like to reciprocate. Would you like to see your name associated with your selected work through a certificate or insert? Are you interested in a glimpse behind the scenes? How about a voucher for lectures or exhibitions? A personal guided tour? Our overview of adoption options lists several opportunities to consider.
